The late 1920s/early 1930s fashion is a clue to this being a special lady from the past. What is not immediately obvious from the portrait, is this full figured lady's great height. Reputedly 7' 7" (231cm) tall, though usually billed by shows as over 8 feet tall, but was probably 7' 1". Katja came from the land of many tall people, the Netherlands, and I think that you will agree that she would have been a worthy gallery candidate even without her remarkable stature. During her career with touring shows, she teamed up with 6' 7" plus sized lady Dora Helms from Germany, performing during the 1930s. They were promoted as the van Droysen sisters.
